The White Mountains region of New Hampshire has long been known for its "natural splendor, cultural richness, historical charm, and stimulating recreation." The Trail is important for its varying topography, the mountain and river views that it offers, the variety of its vegetation areas, and the 18th and 19th century buildings and structures located along it. Much of the corridor is an excellent example of a typical New England rural area unspoiled by overdevelopment.

Zipline Canopy Tours !
Federal House Inn in cooperation with Alpine Adventures is offering
Get out and enjoy family, friends and New Hampshire's beautiful backcountry, all year long. We have 2 separate tours and every zipline tour includes an off-road Safari ride in our Pinzgauers to the top of the course.
Treetop Canopy Tour - This is a true treetop canopy tour, our original course, and the first in New England. You will zip from tree to tree through the forest on 6 separate ziplines ranging from 80' - 900' long and including a 60' high x 75' long suspension bridge spanning "Barron Gorge." It also includes the famous Zip #7, a 35 mph optional free-fall.
Sky Rider Zipline Tour - Treewalk Village offers spectacular views of the western Whites where you begin your descent. Ride dual ziplines, racing your friends, to Area 51, a plateau and scenic overlook. A gentle ground take-off sends you soaring over the sky line, on our longest zip, 1500' long and 200' above the ground, arriving at Hemlock Walk. After crossing 2 Burma bridges, get ready for the 1200 foot zipline at Montego Bay Express, named for our co-workers at our Jamaica location. The grand finale, "White Knuckle Pine," has an 80' drop and zip speeds of up to 50 mph.
Zipline tours run year-round, in almost all weather conditions, 9 am to 4 pm. Schedules will vary by the season and more trips added from June through August. Labor Day weekend (September) through Memorial Day weekend (May) tour times and dates may be limited.
Allow approx. 2 - 2.5 hours to complete the course for a group of 10-12, including short travel time to & from the office. Meet 1/2 hour prior to tour time in the office. Schedules are subject to change without notice due to trail conditions and other acts of nature.
Off-Road Safari !
Federal House Inn in cooperation with Alpine Adventures is offering a unique extreme off-road Safari riding in a 6-wheel drive Swiss army transport vehicle called Pinzgauers. The Pinzgauers have been modified to accommodate 11 guests (one is shotgun) in blue bucket seats with lapbelts. We padded the overhead cages and added a kickin' stereo system with mikes for the guides to entertain you on your journey.
Buckle Up and Hold On, because you're in for an off-road thrill like no other in New England. Scale to the top of Barron Mountain for awesome views in this low-speed roller coaster ride.
